Every multi-album order eventually forces this question, usually at the moment the box is being packed. Opening albums in Korea can cut your shipping bill substantially, but it permanently changes what you own. The right answer depends entirely on why you bought that many copies.
The weight math
A standard album weighs 300 to 500 g complete. Stripped to photobook, cards and inclusions, the same album is often 150 to 250 g, since the CD, case and packaging carry much of the mass. Across ten albums that is roughly a 2 kg difference, which on an air shipment is about 18 to 25 USD. Across fifty albums the saving becomes the dominant cost factor.
What opening costs you
A sealed album carries a resale premium of roughly 20 to 40 percent over an opened one in the same condition, and for limited editions the gap is wider. Opened albums with all inclusions still sell fine; opened albums missing the poster or one card do not. If any part of your purchase is speculative, keep those copies sealed.
The hybrid approach most people land on
Keep one or two copies sealed as the collection pieces, open the rest, ship the cards and photobooks, and dispose of or donate the empty cases. This gets most of the shipping saving while preserving something intact. Say which specific copies stay sealed when you submit the request, because after the fact is too late.
Practical handling notes
Unsealing is usually a small per-album handling fee, often around 500 to 1,000 KRW. Ask for cards to be sleeved and photobooks to be stacked flat with a rigid board on top and bottom. Loose inclusions rattling in a box is how corner dings happen, and corner dings are what kill card value.

Do opened albums still count for charts?
Yes. Counting happens at the point of retail sale, before anything is opened. Unsealing has no effect on it.
Can I have the CD shipped separately later?
Usually yes, but a second shipment costs more than the CD is worth in most cases. Decide once rather than deferring it.
What happens to the discarded cases?
Ask before assuming. Options usually include disposal, recycling, or leaving them for local donation. If you want them back later, that is a second shipment.
