The location verification wall
The app verifies your neighborhood using GPS and limits your feed to nearby districts. A user in Seoul cannot browse Busan listings, let alone one in Chicago. There is no global search, so you cannot even find an item unless someone in that neighborhood surfaces it for you. Even Korean users moving apartments have to re-verify their neighborhood, which gives a sense of how tightly the location constraint is enforced across the whole product.
Direct trade versus Danggeun Pay shipping
Most listings are marked for in-person handoff at a subway exit or convenience store. A minority accept parcel shipping with escrow through the app's payment system. Only that minority is realistically buyable for you, and it is a small slice of inventory. The shipping-enabled subset also tends to be the more valuable listings, since sellers only bother with parcel logistics when the item justifies the effort of packing it.
What is actually worth chasing here
Bulky low-value goods that would never survive international shipping economics are the bulk of it, so most of the catalog is irrelevant. The exception is locally traded collectibles and idol goods posted by casual sellers who never listed on Bunjang, occasionally at half the going rate. Sellers there price to clear rather than to market, so an item that would fetch 60,000 KRW on Bunjang might be listed at 30,000 simply because the seller wants it gone.
The practical route
A Korean-side buyer with a verified neighborhood account has to see the listing, message the seller, arrange either a shipped handoff or a physical pickup, and then route it to a warehouse. That is genuinely more work than a Bunjang order, so reserve it for items that exist nowhere else. For that reason Danggeun is best treated as a source of last resort for a specific item you have already failed to find elsewhere, not as a place to browse.

Not meaningfully. Without a verified Korean neighborhood the feed is empty or limited to a default area.
Is there any buyer protection?
Only on transactions using the app's own escrow payment. Cash handoffs have none by definition.
Is it cheaper than Bunjang?
Often yes on casual listings, because sellers there are clearing space rather than pricing to market.
