Delivered Duty Unpaid puts duties and broker fees on the recipient. Couriers add their own handling charge, and the total is often a surprise.
DDP means it is already paid
Delivered Duty Paid means duties are settled before the shipment leaves. The courier hands the package over with nothing to collect.
Why broker fees hurt most
The duty itself is often small. The courier's brokerage and disbursement fees frequently exceed it, and those only exist under DDU.
What to look for
Any service quoting a low shipping rate without mentioning duties is probably shipping DDU.
