A fansign is a lottery, not a ticket. Korean retailers run a draw tied to album purchases during a defined window, and every qualifying album is one entry. International fans can enter the draw at most stores, but the practical constraints are different from what a Korean-resident fan faces, and it helps to know those before spending several hundred dollars on entries.
How the draw is structured
A store announces an event for a specific album release and defines an entry window, usually five to ten days. Every album purchased at that store during the window generates an entry. Winners are drawn randomly and announced on the store page or by message. Typical winner counts are 80 to 150 people per event, drawn from entry pools that regularly run into the tens of thousands for a popular group.
What entries realistically cost
With albums at 18,000 to 25,000 KRW, ten entries costs roughly 180,000 to 250,000 KRW, or about 130 to 180 USD before shipping. Fans who win consistently are usually entering at 50 to 200 albums per event. If you are entering ten albums and hoping, treat it as buying albums you wanted anyway with a lottery ticket attached, not as a plan.
The part that catches overseas fans
Winning means attending in person in Korea, usually with about seven to fourteen days of notice, and many events require the winner to present identification matching the purchase account. Video call events are the exception and are far more accessible. Before committing a big budget, check whether the event is in-person or video, because the answer changes what winning is worth to you.
What to do with the albums afterward
Fifty albums is roughly 20 kg of shipping weight, which is a serious cost. Many entrants have the store keep only the photocards and inclusions and dispose of the album bodies, or ship only a subset home. Decide this before you order, because unsealing and sorting fifty albums after the fact is a service request that takes time and adds handling fees.
