Korean Checkout Options: Choosing Variants, Add-Ons and Extras Correctly

How It Works

Korean product pages bundle a surprising amount into the option selector: variants, quantity tiers, add-on products at a discount, gift wrapping and sometimes shipping choices. Getting the selection wrong is the single most common reason an order arrives as something other than what was intended.

Required versus additional options

Korean pages separate required options, which you must choose, from additional options, which are optional add-ons at a set price. The additional section frequently contains the same product at a bulk discount, refills, or complementary items. It sits below the main selector and is easy to miss entirely.

Quantity tiers hidden in options

Rather than a quantity box, many Korean listings sell one, two and three-unit bundles as separate options with declining per-unit prices. Choosing the single-unit option and then setting quantity to three usually costs more than picking the three-unit option.

Option-level price differences

Options can carry price adjustments, shown as a plus or minus amount next to the option name. A larger size or a premium color may add 3,000-15,000 KRW. The headline price on the page is the cheapest option, not the price of what you selected.

Communicating your selection

When sending a link to a buying service, state the exact option text as it appears on the page, including any add-ons you want. A screenshot of the selected cart is even better. Ambiguity here is where wrong-item orders come from.

Frequently asked

Why is my quoted price higher than the listed price?

The listed price is usually the base option. Size, color and add-on selections carry price adjustments.

Should I mention add-on options?

Yes, explicitly. They are not selected by default and will not be included unless you ask.

Can I change options after ordering?

Only before the seller dispatches, and only if they agree. Korean sellers often ship same day, so the window is short.
