Price and quantity patterns
A branded item priced 60% or more below the standing retail price is the first flag. The second is quantity: a private seller with fifteen units of the same sealed item in multiple sizes is running a business, and a legitimate business would be on a brand storefront rather than a personal listing.
Photo tells
Stock photography rather than photos of the actual item, images with another marketplace watermark, or a single photo at an angle that hides logos and serial areas. Legitimate Korean sellers post multiple photos including tags, care labels and any serial or authentication marking.
Listing text patterns
Vague phrasing about authenticity, claims of overseas duty-free purchase without a receipt, and refusal to answer direct questions about provenance. Sellers who say authentication is welcome and volunteer purchase documentation are the ones worth dealing with.
Practical protection
Buy from brand storefronts or authorized retailers when the price gap is small. On marketplaces, use platform escrow rather than direct transfer, and request a pre-shipment inspection with detailed photos of tags, stitching and hardware while the item is still in Korea and returnable.
