Search almost any Korean online clothing mall and half the listings will show one size only, labeled free. It is not a US one-size-fits-all. It is a specific set of measurements the seller chose, and the only way to know if it fits is to read the numbers underneath.
What free size usually means
In practice it maps to roughly a US size 2-6 for tops and a 25-27 inch waist for bottoms, because that is the center of the Korean domestic market. Oversized styles labeled free run larger but are cut for a specific silhouette rather than a range of body types.
The measurement table is the real size chart
Every Korean listing includes a table with chest, shoulder, total length and sleeve length in centimeters, measured flat. Chest is half the circumference, so a listed 52 cm chest is a 104 cm garment, about 41 inches. Multiply by two before you compare to your own measurements.
Model reference stats
Korean listings state the model's height and weight, usually something like 168 cm and 48 kg, and which size she is wearing. This is more informative than the size label. If you are substantially taller, add length concerns to your assessment even if the chest fits.
When free size will not work
Structured items with darts, waistbands or fitted sleeves have little tolerance. Knits, oversized shirts and elastic-waist bottoms have a lot. Buy free size in the forgiving categories and insist on numbered sizing for anything tailored.

Can I return something that does not fit?
Korean domestic returns are usually possible before the item ships out of Korea, but once a package has flown, returning it rarely makes financial sense.
Are Korean measurement tables accurate?
Most sellers list a tolerance of 1-3 cm. Treat the numbers as close but not exact, especially on knits.
Should I size up by default?
For structured items from smaller Korean malls, yes. For oversized styles the cut is already generous and sizing up makes it shapeless.
