Material terms on Korean listings
Full-grain and top-grain leather are stated explicitly on quality listings. Split leather and coated leather are cheaper and described differently. Synthetic leather appears frequently on fashion listings at 15,000-40,000 KRW, and those pages usually say synthetic rather than hiding it, so read the material line before assuming.
Price bands that mean something
Synthetic and coated goods 15,000-45,000 KRW, quality cowhide small goods 60,000-150,000 KRW, and Korean artisan leather workshops 180,000-400,000 KRW. The artisan tier is the most interesting for import because it is genuinely hand-stitched and has no US retail presence.
Belts and sizing
Korean belts are sized by total length in centimeters or by waist size in inches. Buy 10-12 cm longer than your actual waist measurement so the buckle sits correctly. Many Korean belts can be trimmed at the tail end, which the listing will state.
Exotic materials are a hard stop
Anything using exotic or protected animal materials involves wildlife trade rules that are strict and change. Keep to cowhide and synthetics for imports and avoid listings that mention exotic skins entirely.
