How cover variants work
A single issue may print four to eight different covers, one per member or per concept, sold separately at the same price. Buyers who want the full set must order all variants, and stores cap quantities. Type A through D labeling is standard, and the variant is chosen at checkout. Some issues also sell a full-set bundle at a small discount, which is worth taking if you intend to collect all covers anyway rather than buying them individually.
Where they are actually sold
Not newsstands. Idol-cover issues are sold through online bookstores like YES24, Aladin and Kyobo, plus album retailers, with a pre-order window that opens roughly two weeks before publication and closes when allocation runs out, sometimes within an hour. Convenience store and bookstore chains occasionally receive small allocations after the online pre-order closes, which is the only realistic second chance at a sold-out issue.
Weight and damage risk
A glossy Korean fashion magazine runs 400-900 g, heavier than most albums. They also bend easily and arrive creased if shipped without a rigid board. Request a board-backed rigid mailer or a properly sized box with filler. Magazines also arrive with a plastic sleeve on many issues, and asking for that to be left on preserves the cover for anyone who cares about condition.
Included extras
Many idol issues bundle a poster, photocard or postcard set, which is why the resale market exists at all. Extras are listed on the product page and occasionally vary by retailer, so check before choosing where to order. Extras are frequently the main driver of resale value, and an issue whose photocard is desirable can trade at three times cover price within a month.
