Korea takes paper planners seriously in a way that supports an entire seasonal market, with new lines from dozens of brands released on a tight annual schedule. If you want a specific edition, the ordering window is roughly eight weeks long and closes decisively in January.
The release cycle
New year planners appear from mid-October, peak in November, and are widely available through December. By late January the remaining stock is discounted 30 to 50 percent but the popular editions and colors are long gone. February onward, most brands have moved on entirely. Stickers, refills and accessory lines follow the same calendar and sell out earlier than the planners themselves, so ordering accessories at the same time rather than later matters. Refills for a specific year are almost never restocked.
What makes Korean planners different
Paper weight around 80 to 100 gsm that handles gel and fountain pens without bleeding, undated and dated variants of the same layout, and a strong culture of accompanying stickers, masking tape and refills. Prices run 12,000 to 35,000 KRW, about 9 to 25 USD, which is competitive with US equivalents of far lower paper quality.
Weight and shipping economics
A hardcover A5 planner runs 400 to 700 g. Two planners plus a sticker and tape haul is about 1.2 to 1.6 kg, or roughly 22 to 32 USD of air shipping. Because the category is heavy relative to price, this is a case where ordering everything in one November batch matters more than usual.
Undated versus dated
Undated planners can be ordered any time of year and never become obsolete, which sidesteps the whole seasonal problem. If you are ordering from abroad and cannot reliably hit the November window, buying undated is the pragmatic choice and often the same product with the date grid left blank. Many brands sell the same cover with either a dated or undated insert, so you can get the exact product you wanted without the seasonal deadline attached.

Do Korean planners start the week on Monday?
Most do, which differs from many US planners. Check the sample images, since it is rarely mentioned in the product text.
Are they in Korean only?
Month and day labels are often in both Korean and English, but section headings and prompts are usually Korean. Layout-driven planners work fine regardless of language.
When is the discount period?
