Volume-based grades
Most platforms assign tiers based on sales volume and transaction count over a recent period, displayed as a name or icon next to the store. A top-tier badge means the seller moves a lot of product, which correlates with legitimacy but says nothing about product quality or accuracy of description.
Satisfaction and dispute metrics
More useful than the headline grade are the underlying figures: response rate, shipping speed, and the percentage of orders with a claim or cancellation. Platforms display these on the store page rather than the product page, and a seller with a strong grade but a high cancellation rate is a warning.
Official brand storefronts
Platforms mark authorized brand stores distinctly from third-party sellers. On an open marketplace, the same product often appears under both, with the brand store priced slightly higher. For anything where authenticity matters, that small premium is the cheapest insurance in Korean e-commerce.
Secondhand platform reputation
Person-to-person platforms use transaction counts and buyer feedback rather than commercial grades, sometimes with a temperature-style score. A seller with fifty completed transactions and consistent feedback is meaningfully safer than a two-week-old account with none.
