How versions differ in practice
A new generation typically changes the housing design, the Bluetooth module and the app pairing method. Older versions often lose app support after two or three years, meaning they still light up manually but no longer respond to venue-wide control. If concert use is your goal, the current generation is the only safe purchase.
Price and weight by generation
Current-generation official lightsticks generally retail at 45,000 to 60,000 KRW, about 33 to 44 USD. Boxed, they weigh 1.1 to 1.6 kg, which is the single heaviest common K-pop purchase and often the item that decides your shipping cost. Discontinued versions sell second-hand from 25,000 KRW upward depending on condition. Second-hand current-generation sticks in good condition usually sell around 35,000 to 45,000 KRW, so the saving over new is modest once you account for missing accessories.
Batteries and what ships
Most lightsticks run on AA or AAA cells that are removed for international shipping, since loose batteries and installed batteries are treated differently in air cargo. Assume yours arrives without cells and buy them locally. Models with a built-in rechargeable pack have stricter handling rules and occasionally cannot travel by air at all, so confirm the power type before ordering.
Buying a spare or an older version
Collectors often want the discontinued design even knowing it will not pair. If that is you, buy second-hand rather than paying a premium to a reseller claiming rarity, and confirm the housing has no cracks around the base, which is where drops usually break them. Check that the strap loop and the battery compartment door are both present, since those are the parts most often lost and almost never sold separately. Ask for a photo with the light switched on, which is the only way to confirm the LEDs still work.

Can I ship two lightsticks in one box?
