Withmuu, Music Korea and Applemusic: The Smaller Album Sales Counters

K-Pop & Merch

Serious album collectors quickly discover that the pre-order benefit they want is only at a store they have never heard of. Korea has roughly a dozen recognized album sales counters, each negotiating separate inclusions, and the smaller ones are where the rarest benefit cards end up.

Who the smaller counters are

Withmuu is the retail arm attached to a major Korean entertainment retail chain and runs frequent in-person pop-ups. Music Korea and Applemusic are long-running specialist album shops in Seoul with strong online operations. Synnara and Hottracks round out the group, each with physical stores that hold exclusive events. Several also operate physical stores in Seoul that stock older releases long after online listings have closed, which is the only route to an album a year past release.

Why their benefits are rarer

Allocation size scales with the store's order volume. A small counter might receive a few thousand exclusive photocards against tens of thousands at the largest retailers. That scarcity is exactly why those cards trade at a premium on Bunjang months later. Because allocations are small, these benefits also sell out first, often within the opening hours of a pre-order rather than over the full window.

Ordering difficulty

These sites are the least foreigner-friendly of any Korean album retailers, with no English interface, mandatory Korean phone verification and checkout flows that reject foreign cards outright. They are also the most likely to require a Korean address without exception. Their sites also tend to have the shortest pre-order windows, sometimes only three or four days, which compresses the decision time considerably.

Pop-up and in-store exclusives

Several of these retailers hold physical pop-up stores where a purchase gets you an additional in-store-only item. Those cannot be bought online at all and require someone physically visiting the store during the event window, which is a service some buying agents offer and most do not. Pop-up participation is usually announced only a few days ahead on Korean social media, which makes them impractical to plan around from overseas.

Frequently asked

Do smaller counters still count toward charts?

Recognized Korean album counters report sales to the chart aggregators. Confirm the specific retailer is a reporting counter for the release.

Are their prices higher?

Album prices are broadly uniform across Korean counters. The difference is the included benefit, not the price.

How do I know which store has which benefit?

Labels publish a benefit chart per release, usually as an image posted to the artist social accounts a week before pre-orders open.
